Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
UC San Diego Health, UC San Diego School of Medicine, and the Department of Medicine/Division of Allergy & Immunology are committed to efforts to ensure equity, diversity and inclusion.
Our goal is to creating an environment that is more inclusive at every level, which positively affects staff and faculty. Dr. Tukisa Smith represents our division on the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) committee and leads our efforts in community outreach. In 2022, the fellowship training program leadership attended the inaugural faculty development workshop run by UCSD GME and the Campus Diversity Office. Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) focused Medical Education grand rounds are held over the course of the year and we support the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) virtual open house for applicants each recruitment year so that applicants to the UCSD Allergy/Immunology fellowship program can gain an understanding of the diverse environment that UCSD has to offer. This open house is run by the UCSD Graduate Medical Education office and EDI committee and starts with a Webinar-based overview of EDI-related efforts across UCSD and then transitions to breakout room discussions where applicants and participate and share viewpoints with regards to EDI with an Allergy/Immunology fellow.
