About Dr. Doherty
Dr. Taylor Doherty is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at UC San Diego. Dr. Doherty received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UC San Diego in 1994. He was a clinical research coordinator at UC Irvine until beginning medical school in 1998 at Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School. He was an internal medicine resident at UC San Diego Medical Center from 2002-2005 followed by a Chief Resident year and Allergy/Immunology fellowship at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital. In 2009, Dr. Doherty joined the UC San Diego faculty has maintained in asthma and allergy with a specific focus on innate type 2 immunity. Since 2019, Dr. Doherty has 2 active clinics at the VA Medical Center, at one he treats Veterans with asthma and upper airway disease and at the other is a general allergy and immunology procedure clinic. Additionally, Dr. Doherty cares for adult patients with allergies, asthma, and immune deficiency in addition to teaching residents and medical students.
