Asthma is one area where disparities are especially prevalent when race and ethnicity are taken into account. Complex factors play a role including structural determinants such as discriminatory policies; social determinants such as socioeconomic status, education, the physical environment, and access to health care; biological determinants; and behavioral determinants such as tobacco use. The Center has formed vital community partnerships to ensure that both traditional and novel therapies are accessible to all who need them.
